    Default Cambelt setting tools

    Has anybody got and willing to lend out the the alignment and locking tools to do a cambelt change on a Z19DTH engine (tool no EN 46788 and EN 46789) Fleet Hants

    Locking the cams is easy.

    Do you envisage doing many of these belt changes??

    I cut a piece of soft wood, and tapped it into the gap between the teeth of the cam sprockets to hold both firm. NOT belted in, just tapped in and it worked fine. The crank won't move on it's own as soon as any pressure has escaped through the rings etc, so once it has been set it will stay set.
    My 1.8 has alignment marks on the sprockets - I don't know about the 1.9 though.

    Just depends how many times you will do it.


    When you've completed the job, don't forget to give the engine AT LEAST 2 complete revolutions with a spanner on the pulley end of the crank to ensure nothings going to bang together !
