Default Hints and Suggestions for the trip

Driving Abroad – Be observant at roundabouts and lane changing if you have not driven abroad before. It does become easier after an hour or so. Only certain parts of the Autobahn are unrestricted and these will be marked accordingly so.

Car Insurance - Its advisable to make sure you have the basic minimum requirements for driving abroad. Its highly recommended to extend this cover to fully comprehensive as minimum cover abroad is normally only 3rd party cover.

Spare Wheel - Make sure you had a good spare wheel and check it before you go. Its advisable to take a full size wheel due to the distances being covered.

Breakdown Kit - Warning Triangle, Bulb Set, Fire Extinguisher and a Hi-Visibility jacket is a legal requirement in certain EU countries.

Breakdown Recovery - Its advisable to extend your breakdown cover for driving abroad. You never know when you’ll need it. Best to be safe than sorry although we’ll try our best to get you running if that does happen.

Medical Insurance – You can apply for medical cover within the EU. You’ll need to fill out an E111 form and they will send you a EU medical card.

Emergency contacts – If anything happens first point of call is the convoy group leader. If unobtainable then one of the other group leaders who will advise on your situation.
NurburgRing - Rules On NurburgRing - This is NOT part of the trip and due to the dangers of 'The Ring' this is in no way endorsed by Vectra-C.com... If you decide to deviate from the set itenary you will forfeit the rest of the bookings for the rest of the tour. This is a non-negotiable point.

Number Plates – You need a set of number plates with the Euro Sign at the left hand edge of the plates or a GB sticker attached to the rear of the car.

Beam Adjusters – Prefacelift cars have a lever on the headlights to change the beam direction. Facelift cars do not however. Cars fitted with AFL’s only need an extra fuse fitted to the fuse compartment and this will alter the beam electrically. For all other cars you will need the stick on covers available from places like Halfords.

Any other tips or ideas feel free to post up.

As for the route...will we have 'route cards' of some description? either in each car, or each group?

The E111 does not exist anymore, you need to apply online for a card
