Default maybe i shoudn't of sped up

    Hi guy's,
on friday i was driving home going along a road where there's 3 lanes, 1 is meant to be a creeper lane for slow lorrys going up hill kinda like 1 lane short of a duel carridgeway. Driving out of town your aloud to overtake as its broken lines, going into town your not as it's double whites if you follow. Anyway i was driving out sticking to 60 when at the last minute where it narrows back to two lanes a pickup behind decided to go past and showered the front of my car with stone chips peppering my bonnet so tonight almost in the same place i could see a taxi speeding up behind me going to do the same thing so i sped up to stop him going past, no danger but now i'm feeling guilty about it, i didn't want to add another heap of stone chips to the bonnet. Now i think what if he reports me to the police. Would you have done the same thing or not?

TBH, I would probably have done the same thing. Or dropped right back to avoid the stones.

Cheers, Yes after i got home when i was thinking about it i thought i should have dropped back to avoid the stones. He was sitting along side me for a little while, i was starting to wonder if he WAS going to pull back in behind. My girlfreind was with me and totally agree's with me in the fact that he left it a bit late to pull out. It's a black vec i've got and the bonnet looks fairly bad now after yesterday, too much to touch up. All the loose stones seem to collect at the narrow part of the road.

I would have protected my car too so long as it didnt endanger anyone. Sounds like the guy had options available and could slow down and pull back in. Dont worry, these are the situations that you remember and actually improve your driving in the long run as you watch out for them in advance next time.

    Thanks guys,
Your thoughts make me feel a bit better about what i did. The fact that i've only had the vec about a month, i seen him comming and thought no way, no you don't.
By the way Leviathan, the picture under your name what is that again it looks so familiar but i can't put my finger on it.

so what if he tells plod, what can they do? a big fat nothing, you need a little something known as proof and i am sure the boys in blue have more urgent things to worry about
