The letter i got from the DVLA says the rate for my tax is 112.75 for 6 months and 205 for the year, yet their website says 115.50 for 6 months and 210 for the year.

I usually take the slip into the post office and tick the box, which has the wrong rate.......

You can only pay what it says on the tax reminder form.

As long as you get the disc, I don't think anyone will complain to you about it.

Be smart with this Tam, the new rates come in in 2009, yours being an auto jumps up to the 270 mark iirc, so you need to put 6 mths on it now and 12 just before the rate goes up.

They will charge you the correct amount at the post office. No matter what the paper say's. Also follow VV's great idea.

did mine last month. the reminder said £77 for 6 months,but the post office charged the new rate of £79.75.

Doesn't it say somewhere on the form that new rates may have come in by the time you read it or pay for it?

Is says on the form

"The rates of duty were correct when printed. If they change in the budget a new rate may be payable".

Its just under the big phone number written in RED.
