Default Which Diesel to go for

I currently have a SXI 1.8 2004 with 40K+. With the serious cost of fuel( that a complete debate on its own) I am considering a switch but want to stick with my Vx Vectra.

With a big car and 120 BHP with the relatively small engined 1.8 what would be a good car to go for, I thought I would ask the forum for their advice before spending large amounts of cash......

n.b. I do want some grunt but mileage I will be travelling will need soon to be a concern, so some economy would be a bonus.

    regards

How about a 2.2 Direct and have it LPG converted.

I did test drive a cdti 120 before I bought my 150 and it was great, probably has more torque than the petrol which would make the difference but the 150 is definitely the one to go for, even in standard form they are pretty awesome!

I bought my 150 CDTI without test driving it and to the minute I write this post never had a problem. The 150 is brilliant but beware my previous sentence is not a testament to their 'reliability'. Be careful when you go for one as you could pick up a dud.

Also if you are thinking of a diesel - what about the 2.2DTI, not to be sniffed at puts out 123BHP, but some are known to come with 130ish!!

TBH remap this engine it is really fussy and there are a number of member on here who have had a 1.9 150 through a wobbler because of the boxes.

A remap will be fine though as it reprogrammes the ECU.

If cost is a primary concern, they why not get the LPG conversion for the 1.8
That will pay for itself in less than 3 months

Until the government are allowed to start taxing it as they'd like to....Bet you a fiver that in a couple of years LPG isn't a cheap option any more.
