Default Advice on buying a Vectra

    Hello all

I'm new to the site and I am going tomorrow to have a look at a Vectra 2.2 dti SRi on a 52 plate with a view to buying it.

Is there anything I need to look out for, any weak spots on the car in general.

Any advice on areas to check would be much appreciated.

    Cheers
    Jus

    Welcome to the forum Jus.

I am no expert but own one. Knowing what I know now I would check the suspension for creaks and bangs - find some good speed bumps on your test drive.

Check all the electrics, windows etc. Give it a good blast, heavy on the pedal and listen for any unusual noises as you accelerate and after you take your foot off the pedal.

Anyone else care to add to this please?

I used to have a 2.2Dti and although it went well it was no where near as good as my 1.9 cdti (150), i say this in reagrds to fuel economy, noise and sheer power.

I had A LOT of problems with the 'spanner' light on the dti and when i sold it, to a trader for a quick sale, he ragged it in 2nd to red (revs). He said he did this to see if the spanner light would come on? It didn't so he gave me cash.

Although a CDTI will cost quite a bit more, i think the residual value would mean you probly be better off in the long run.

If you put a price up here i'm sure more experienced people will offer you their opinion as to if it's a good price?

Holy crap that's dear for a 52-plate. Add a few grand and you could get a 1.9CDTi SRi on a 54.

I paid 6k for my 54 plate 1.9 CDTi SXi sat nav last year with 42k on the clock 2.5 years old , its exactly the same as a SRi except the wheels as its one of the last SXi's they based it on the SRi, 5.5k seems a bit expensive to me
