Default Is the offer made for my 2.2SRI to low?

Thinking of changing the car for a fresh model, the local Mazda garage here in Middlesbrough offered me £6500 FOR MY 05 33K Direct.

However tempted at the thought of a Sigbum i approached one of the local VX Dealers and was stood in front of a computer and shown how they can only offer 5k!!!!

I'm well aware the prices of Vec's are dropping faster than a pig kicked out of a bomber but come on surely thats too low isn't it?

According to Glass's guide, the most to expect from trade in is £5,780 so I think that is quite a good price to be honest for trade in!

If you're considering a Mazda 6 diesel, make sure you know what you're letting yourself in for:

Petrol models are fine - as per traditional Mazda reliability.

Cheers for that matey, thankfully i hate diesel motor cars,or at least the current generation of them anyway. Nothing but problems, for a supposed better fuel economy.Petrol for me all the way unless your offering me an R8 for under 12k
Other than that i'll leave all the 'tourqe'ing to the missus

Most people are lucky - it's only something like one in many hundreds of cars that has serious problems. But, if it's you that sends your 04 reg car to the scrappy with 70k on the clock because the engine has failed catastrophically, it can be quite depressing on a car that was sold to you on the basis of overall running costs.

Aaah, good old PX prices. Mileage doesn't matter a hoot when you're buying but does when you're trading in.
A 3 and a half year old Signum that cost £25k new is only worth £3.5k after 93k miles and my Aunt was the 1936 shotbox axle greasing champion of the inner Earth ring, you have to love used car values and salespeople don't you.

Sorry, no help whatsoever tonight as I have a few scoops on board.

I'm looking to return to petrol, there's no turbo or pump to worry about, that saves nearly 5k of worrying, modern diesels aren't the ultra economic cars they used to be, what did 40mpg on the urban 15 yrs ago now returns just about 30mpg, the CDTi auto Vec I had on loan struggled to return 25mpg, a 2.2 direct would return a 22 possibly 25mpg so for 3 mpg less the saving on purchase takes care of that.
