    Default VX 220 opinions

Can anyone give me an insight to what these are like to drive\own? i've read the parkers review and seen the top gear feature and it seems like an awesome car for the money and it'll only cost me £450 to insure the 2.2.

what are they like for comfort ? obviously compared to my 2.2 direct sri it aint gonna be anywhere near as comfy but aslong as i dont need a new set of nashers after every run i'll be happy enough

i'd be looking at 2002 model and most likely the 2.2 .

Haven't pursuaded the missus yet but i'm sure i can

    My freind had one
In all honesty there more like a track car.
Very basic inside, ride quality there is none you feel everything, ive always had lowered cars however 2 trips in the VX220 i did feel ill.
He got rid 4 months down the line and wasnt using it everyday.

TBH i just dont think on UK roads they are suited. on a track yes on roads as a car im afraid not imo

    I had a VX220 Turbo.

I have had the pleasure of owning, driving and racing some very fast cars both on track and off. Even some of the serious toys have been nowhere near as much fun as this car!

    When I bought the VX220 Turbo, I had the following list of cars that I was looking at;

    1. Mitus Evo (V through to VII)
    2. Lotus Exige
    3. TVR Tuscan
    4. TVR Cerbera
    5. VX220
    6. VX220 Turbo
    7. Scooby STi

After driving all of these, the VX220 Turbo was the way to go.

It can be used as an everyday car, however, I didn't and it was in the garage most of the time.

In my opinion, even though the VX220 is ace to drive, it felt a little under powered, like an Elise is. The VX220 Turbo, is a different ball game. Don't listen to the owners saying that the NA is better handling etc..... It's not true at all.

Compared to the Lotus, the VX220 (both NA and Turbo) is a real drivers car, the VX220 Turbo is what the Elise should have been!

It is true that there are no comforts in there, but both the NA and the Turbo are great cars. The NA is just a little slow and the Turbo is a ****** monster!

I am soooooo missing mine and keep telling myself that I will get a VXR220.......... YUMMY!

cheers guys your confirming what I already thought. I will be using it everyday for a 40 mile round trip up the A19 and the only thing putting me off is the ride quality , i can live without aircon and leccy windows but i'm worried about being rattled to death everyday lol.

think i'll have to give one a good test drive before deciding . Do they still make them? if so i might nip into the dealers and see if i can get one for an hour or 2 .

Power steering is not an issue, there is no weight over the front wheels, you will not miss it.

The NA (2.2) will give you a huge dentist bill, the Turbo (2.0) is a little softer to cope with the extra power and weight. It's still a bit bumpy, but defo liveable!
