    Default help!! needed daft woman

    Hi
I wonder if you can help, I am new to this site, I have a vectra 2001 plate. Over the last few days noticed the car chugging slightly sometimes when I accelerate it chugs and then there seems to be a surge when I press the accelerator and it clears, when sitting stationary it idles but is a bit juddery. I know I will need to take it to a garage but been ripped of in the past and wondered if you could give any advice

wonder what they did at the last service ? I would always start with the easy stuff. Look for any loose or disconected pipes under the bonnet. Check the air filter element is clean and the hoses are secure to and from the airbox. Change the spark plugs. Clean the HT leads with a rag and white spirit. Put some redex in the fuel and give it a blast. could just be coked up if you do a lot of town driving.

    Default hi

I did try redex in it and it didnt really make any difference, got one of the guys at work to look to see if any pipes etc loose and he couldnt see anything. Its weird but its almost like when I am driving and press accelerator the car still runs but its like trying to open a door and something is behind it, you push a little more and it goes, almost like more petrol is getting through.
I do do a lot of driving 90 mile a day to and from work and I have a part time job which involves a lot of town driving

Next step a new set of spark plugs. Anyone handy can do this in 30 mins for you, no need to go to a garage. Post some tasteful shots of yourself standing next to the car looking puzzled and there will be members queueing up to help you !!

This sounds like a Vectra B - I remember when I had one, I had problems with juddering etc the throttle body being clogged up - had to take it off and clean it out with Carb cleaner.
