    Default photosensitive mirrors.... ¿?

    Hi everyone...
I don't know exactly how does the mirrors work... everybody know its function , avoid to dazzle, but sometimes we don't need this function, when we're gona park for example. So, when u put the reverse, stop works, ok, i understand and my car does it, perfect. But... is it normal when i drive normally and i stop accelerating (i don't brake) the mirror also stops working? What's the aim of this function?
Sorry if my english is not good, i try...

    See u!!

There is a sensor on the back of the mirror to detect whether the ambient light is day or night time. There is another sensor at the bottom of the front of the mirror that picks up headlights shining through your rear window.

During daylight the mirror shouldn't darken (sensor on the back takes care of that)

Mirror should only darken if the sensor at the bottom of the front of the mirror gets light shined into it (ie, from a car's headlights behind you)

However, the mirror should return to normal if either reverse gear is selected, the drivers door is opened, or the ignition is switched off.

What I have noticed though is when driving through a built up area with loads of streetlights is that the rear sensor picks up the light from these lights and makes the mirror think it's daylight and the mirror fails to darken enough when some moron behind dazzles you. When this happens I tend to put the interior light on for a few seconds to flood the front sensor to force the mirror to darken more.

Ok, i understand... but the stronge thing is when i drive on highway with no external lights, i've cars back to me and the mirror works(darken) if i press the accelerator, everything is ok, but when i retire my foot from the pedal the mirror stops working and the headlights of the back cars dazzle me. I've test that sometimes and always work in this way, I'm suprised with it

From what you're saying, you have a fault somewhere. Is the car still under warranty.
