You need a bulb pump like the one the used to have on Peugeots. Oh, on the tool to remove the clips on the fuel filter. The pump goes in line after the fuel filter and pulls fuel through and into the pump. They can be a right pig to bleed sometimes.

    To quote from the handbook:

    Diesel fuel system, bleeding
It is possible to restart the engine if the tank has been run dry. A delayed start is to be expected. Attempt to start the engine for a maximum of 60 seconds. If the engine does not start, wait a few minutes and try again.

if it won't self prime, remove the top of the fuel filter and prime there with an overfill of either diesel or fuel treatment( both will burn to start the car) and replace the top securely.. the car will crank while the pump primes, but it will start..

that may be work in case only the tank is emty.If you open injektor high presure way or leaking-off pipes or some other fuel way aroun the pump - than you need a real bleeding of sistem.
