Angry CDTI 150 SRI Shocks + Shuddering

    Hi All,

    My first post.

I've just taken my 07 CDTI 150 SRI in for its first annual service and the OSR shock is leaking. Bit annoying since ive only had the car 6 weeks under network Q.

Given that vx only give 3000miles warranty on there own shocks (and the problems others have had), im looking to replace them with monroe or bilstein.

Can anyone tell me the part numbers for the monroes and bilsteins?

Is there anything I need to take into account with regards to the veccy being an SRI? ie is it classed as sports suspension?

Btw, I also get some slight shuddering/wobble in the steering wheel. Its not major, but annoying, esp around 70-80mph. I've had the wheels balanced and aligned, but this was before i knew about the rear shock. Is this the likely cause ?

    Many thanks

    Terry

I tried to agrue that with the stealer, but network Q doesnt cover the shocks. The car had 16050 on it when I got it and 18600 when i took it for its annual.

So its looks like its down to me to sort it. So much for 114 point check. is all i can say.

I dont want to replace them with vx ones if they are going to crap out and leave me short after 3000m.

So back to my original question.

hop onto LMF's website and have a look at their offers.... thats where to get them from...Bilstiens preferably..

I'd personally take on the garage.. use VX customer services if you have to, but you ARE being fed a line... NetQ should cover the dampers..

    Guys,

Thanks for the advise. I just rang Vx customer services and they were so helpful. They have given me a case numer as apparently there is a recall/known issue. So Ive left a message with the stealers to call me so i can get it booked in and sorted. While im in there, i will get them to look at the handling.

Wonder if i should push the stealer to replace both the rears

The dealer was also adamant that they only needed to replace the one and it was the springs that required pairs. Personally i agree with you. I wouldh't normally change just one side. its slightly permissible if there the rears and the same type.

I will make it clear to them that I am not happy about it and make them underrwrite the safety of doing it on the receipt in writing.

Actually, I may have them as when i went to collect my car after the service, they quoted me £90+VAT to replace both the rears!! So why a change of opinion!!

    Regards

    Terry

Stress to the dealer that this is a safety issue. They are trying to wriggle out of it. Springs, shocks, discs etc should always be matched. Monroe used to suggest that shocks were worn out after 30,000 miles and should be replaced as a matter of course. A half worn shock matched to a new shock will affect not only handling but braking distance as well. Don't take no for an answer, the mention of trading standard in a full showroom/reception usually does the trick!
