emissions light on an 02 zafira 1.6 16v

So far no so good


Emissions light came on on our zafira today - not flashing - just solid, but refusing to go back off.

Also seems a little difficult to start when wam sometimes.

Could this be the egr valve??

If not any other ideas?

it could be the EGR or it could be the lambda sensor or a dodgy injector..

you need to run it back to where it came from Nick, and get them to investigate it...

I am ok to run it whikst it's on though aren't I - bout 60 miles to the garage??

yep, that should be fine..just don't run it very long with it on.. sonner rather than later..

Just done my mates egr on his zafira exactly the same fault.

would you believe it - drove it 60 miles to the inlaws house, 20 miles round trip to drop the daughter and me off at work, then in the 5 miles from in laws to garage the light went out!!!

Mrs took it in anyway and the mechanic said he thought egr and booked it in (no fault code read). I got the mrs to speak with the owner who assured us the codes will be read when it goes in next week and any other faults stored will be addressed - and that if the light reappears to pop in sooner.

Seems like they're sortin us out ok.

(light still not back on though)

p.s. when people say they are 'doing' the egr valve what does this entail??

is it a clean up/a replacement/or blanking off?

Our Emissions light came on twice both times our lass had just filled up with fuel from asda the first time she never told me she had put asda fuel in it.

The second time she said she had just pulled away from asda after putting feul in the car and the light came on I told her to go to another garage and top up the tank with a high grade fuel and the light went off.

Never had a problem since also never used asda fuel since. ( Asda Ashington )

I tried cleaning my mates but it didn't solve the problem so i had to replace it.
