Default Fitted Front and Rear Parking sensors.

Braved the weather yesterday and fitted a parking sensor kit on my estate.

Fitted them in the factory positions thanks to the pre-marked positions on the inside if the bumper and the rear trim.

They look good, stupid question time, how did you fit it? I mean box position and wire feeding etc and how does the box know if you are in traffic or parking? Think i might be missing something, do they go off in traffic?????

Tell me please if i'm being stupid!!!

If you wire it the way it says in the instructions the front sensors only come on when the Brake light is on. Not a good idea as you dont tend to have your foot on the brake when you are edging forwards!! and yes it would keep going off while in traffic.

With mine i have added a "smart switch" which is basicly a timer. It gives a 30 second period of activation of the front sensors. to swich on you just put it in reverse first then the front sensors come on for the 30 sec's. If put back in reverse the rears come back on.(you could wire it to a switch to activate the fronts if you wanted.)

The control unit is mounted in the side compartment in the boot and all the wires have to be run back to the unit.

The kit is a Speedsafe kit. I got it off e-bay but the seller has a web site.
