hi m8 try the cheap things 1st air filter and fuel filter (does if feel like its running out of fuel? (you didnt say if u have petrol or diesel) if its diesel drain the fuel filter incase it has water in there.

have you any spanner light ? the egr valve is a prime canditate in lower pulling away speeds but normaly runs ok in higher revs or vise versa (if its happening across the full rev range it most likley isnt the egr.... baz

it's a 1.8 petrol according to his profile..

TBH, the 1.8 isn't at it's best at low RPM's...so it would chug if you're trying to make it pull at low RPM's or accelerating in too high a gear.. try giving it more throttle..

emissions light means dealer time..... if it stays on at any time then it's warning you that the CAT is in danger of being poisoned.

no probs m8,did you have it replaced? new for old or did you remove and clean it.

even in petrol models they get crudded up and can be cleaned as the flap inside sticks, and in other cases the shaft on the control arm corrodes and it jams up which can be removed and cleaned with some very fine glass emery paper and a little wd40.... glad to be of help m8.... baz
