Brake wear warning won't go out...

I've got a bit of a problem on my 52 plate Vectra Club.
The brake wear light came on, took it to KwikFit (probably a mistake!).
Needed new front pads & discs, a new wear sensor, and a new caliper...

Had the work done, but the wear light is still on.

Bloke at kwikfit reckons it takes 100 miles or so for the wear light to go. I've now done 200+, and the light is still on. Was he telling me stories, or have I got some other problem?

The bloke at Crap fit is talking rubbish if you put a new sensor on the light will go out straight away !!!!!!................They have either not put a new sensor on or have damaged it !!!!!

Thanks everyone, that's what I suspected...

Also, the LED display in the dash is flicking between the brake wear sensor, and low coolant level. The coolant level is fine, could there be some other problem?

yep, if the coolant level is okay, then it sounds like the sensor in the tank is shot as well..

OK, thanks Mark. Is it possible to swap the sensor, or do I need to swap the whole tank? How hard a job is it?

Is it possible that there could be another cause - it's just that both the warnings came on pretty much at the same time?

Only reason I ask is I had some problems with the voltage regulator in the alternator for a few weeks while I was trying to convince the garage there was a problem. I'm just wondering if I've somehow managed to toast some of the electronics (hoping not).

Tenner says you didn't need a caliper or discs.

Kwik-Fit are a bunch of hoods - I've seen people go in for a puncture and come out with 4 new (crap) tyres, and exhaust and new pads all round.

Yeah you're probably right... the dust guards had gone on the caliper though...

Wouldn't normally go to Kwik-Fit, but was about to do 400+ miles, and didn't have time to do any of the work myself.

I shan't go back again, well, other than to put my boot up the git's arse who didn't fit the sensor correctly, and then fed me a lovely story about sensors taking 100 miles to bed in.

What's betting that there's a 100 mile limit on the warranty?

I strongly doubt the two faults are related..
