    Default Bleeding "Safety" Cameras...

Drive down the same stretch of road about ten times a week for the last five years. Its a long non pedestrian road, but 40mph with a camera. (Chalk Hill for the locals). Anyway, got the call to pick the woman up from her friends earlier and used the Chalk Hill to get there even though its actually a detour from the route I have ALWAYS used to get to that particular place. Don't know why, just had a feeling. Well that was a bad move!

Drove through the thing at about 47 I think it was, for some reason when I started to slow for it my head said "its a 50 zone". How strange.

Not getting too cut up about it - no point. My ban (SP60) is due to come off my licence at the end of this year and my 3 points next year. (If an SP60 expires after 4 years as I think)

Mind you........................ it only flashed the once. Anyone reckon I will get lucky? I understand they have to flash twice, so if it only flashed once as I am sure it did - it may be empty????

Like I say, not getting too cheesed off but would rather not get any more points when I am within a year or so of having a clean licence......

I'm not an expert on cameras, but they are used as traffic monitoring devices as well, so who knows!
Hope your OK. Keep your fingers crossed.

And what are you doing up at this time!! I'm at work, what's your excuse.

Should flash twice to take your piccy, so if it definately was only once you should be OK. They have 14 days to get the NIP to you. If it's not sent recorded ignore it.
When they eventually send you a court notice via rec delivery, state you have never received the original NIP.
The onus is on them to prove you have. I have got off 2 speeding fines this way. They eventually gave up.

Sorry mate, but gonna have to correct you on this one..... they have 14 days to SEND the NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution), not for you to receive it.... they do not have to prove that you have have received it, it is your responsibility to prove that you have not as long as they can prove it is sent (and they audit trail it heavily in their office to prove where it is).... so basically if they send it and the postie has an off day and confuses your letterbox with your wheelie bin, as long as the safety camera team sent it, you're screwed!!

On the plus side (you might be able to see it this way).... 47 in a 40 is only 3 points and £60........ could be a lot worse.

Sorry for the really negative post.... but best that you know the facts.

I was lead to believe that the camera HAS to flash twice to sort out the "time-distance-speed" ratio..to coincide with the markings on the floor..
