Default Motorists lose 17 a day

Not sure if this has been posted before.

Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 CDTI owners are the hardest hit by depreciation with the car losing 58 per cent of its value after the first year alone

Which is why I buy nearly new, at about a year old. Let someone else take the huge hit in value loss.

These figures do not add up to how they read, you buy a £30k BMW and it costs £30k it's then worth 22.5k @ 1 yr old taking a 7.5k hit, the Vectra however lists at say £22k for a 1.9 CDTi Design, but you buy it for £17.5k on dealer discount etc and it loses £12k in yr one, leaving you with another £7.5k hit, so no difference in fact, where you will notice it though is the £200 service by VX compared to £600 for the BMW, then there's the tyres, brakes etc all of which the BMW will be 66% more to purchase, Vectra is gonna look bad right now anyway, end of life and replacement due and volume, but I will add this, the Estate I would like that is supposed to be worth 7k now is still nowhere to be found for less than 12k.

And even with the 4 yr figures the BMW is then worth 14k losing you 16k over 4 yrs, the Vectra ends up @ 5.5k after 4 yrs giving a loss to you of 12k, so technically 4k more beneficial over 4 yrs, best way as Ste says is to get the 11k 1 yr old one and get 5.5k back for it in 3 yrs time.

I think that what car does a "whole life" cost over 3 years which makes interesting reading
