I'm not sure about this advert, I'm not a big fan of dogs but find it uncomfortable to watch. The dog looks like it is in real distress.
pure class that advert, i have a jack russell that is the spitting image of the dog in the ad...
that ad annoys the t@ts off of me, but i think its mainly the music
Try this for a spot of memory jogging

As for the dog and the distress, I think you will find quite a lot of dogs do this naturally when faced with something they've not seen before like a f'ffin size 12 boot heading for it's bum just kidding, but when two cats square off the tails expand to 6x the normal size, and I think the dog could be about to curl one or just cold tbh.
I love the ad - makes me, and Mrs Duncan, laugh. It's never going to make me even contemplate going to look at a Polo for Mrs Duncan, I just like the ad though. Smile every time it comes on.
BigP - the dog won't be in distress, it's simply not allowed in ads. Use of animals is strictly controlled and an animal handler will have been present and the dog highly trained - plus like the in-car shots there may well have been CGI used on the 'whimper' shots too.
Blimey, that is a blast past from the past! - along with Vx using a couple of excellent soundtracks!
I think a lot of it for me is because I've had a couple of Russells as pets, a lot of ppl get put off by the reputatation, but the reality is one super loyal fun dog, the Scorpio of the dog world, the ex landlord at one of my pubs has one, she's a mare, if you get anywhere near him when shes around it all gets very loud and bite risk intensifies, his missus gave me a lift up the road the other week, she said don't touch her or look at her or she'll be over in the front going mad, sure enough I get in the car to be met with a GRRRRRR, we then set off up the road, as I'm getting out the ex Landlady, who is in her 60's btw, just so no one gets the wrong idea, she's a strict mum type and has always been great company to me, goes to give me a friendship peck on the cheek to say goodbye, realising whats about to happen I said...you gotta be joking Pam the bouncer is watching, I get out and as I shut the door a big face of fur GRRRRRR's away at the window, this is a dog i used to feed and play ball with, and I still don't rate any leeway from her.
