    Default Saab or Isuzu?

Hi there, I thought (and i'm not sure where I got this idea from), but I thought the 3.0CDTi was an Isuzu engine but in 2006 VX started using a SAAB engine. Can anybody clarify if this is the case and when this change happened. I ask because I have a 2007 3.0CDTi and the ECU has an Isuzu label on it (I'm asuming the ECU is the big silverbox sitting on top of the airfilter). Does this mean the engine is not the Saab unit or did VX keep the same Isuzu ECU when they changed the engine?

Is there a chassis/model/information plate somewhere that helps me identify the engine?

    Regards,

I believe the 3.0CDTI is the Isuzu unit, as to whether they've changed it for this model year I would doubt it.

It's always been an Isuzu derived engine, hence the ECU label. The engine also found its way into Saab, and some Renaults.

Basically, Isuzu make it, Vauxhall / Opel use it, Renault buy it in.

Ok but if the engine has always been an Isuzu unit, why are some people quoting an engine with 177bhp (earlier models) and others with 184bhp(later models). Any clues???

Have been reading the wrong stuff or am I just going a bit .
