Default Older people and car doors.

I’m going to be a bit politically incorrect here but here goes anyway.

I need to invent a system that stops the door being opened at high speed and bouncing off the end stops (thank god it was not windy). I spent last weekend ferrying the wife’s mum and her pals (they were are between 70 and 80 years old) around and I noticed that:

    1. They have hidden strength when it comes to pushing a door open.
    2. They use the same energy reserves when it comes to closing the door.

I think they thought I was being quite chivalrous by opening and closing the doors at the end of the day but it was actually self preservation.

You would think that some kind of damping could be introduced when a door is getting near the end of travel.

Anyway I’m probably going to hell now and I will probably be assimilated into this technique when I start to like grey and tan colours and slip on shoes

I'm sure everyone has had it happen sometime - still don't understand why there is no damping at end of travel.

VV - can you put child locks on in a taxi. It would keep you fit if you needed to get out everytime.

I put the one on behind me to preserve the door from Johnny and Jeanie Walker, had a couple of ppl remark on it as if I did it so they can't run away, funny how that would be in their minds isn't it, should I get told off for it then until ppl pay a £600 deposit to repair the door and another £400 for the time off the road if they sling it out in front of another car I will continue to have it child locked, and if you see the length of my rear doors you'd know why, they are the size of a Calibra door.

I'm not 100% sure Shan, but I've seen doors get crushed before, and as usual the offender is just willing to pay up...err..sorry mate...errr..eres ya freey quid anyway, one insurance claim later it's £400 extra to renew, plus the excess which is currently up to £500, at least a week off the road with no wages and all because a drunk didn't look before opening it, rules and regs aren't really much of a worry to me anymore, gone are the days when it was a fun job with lots of characters and I'm thinking of getting out right now anyway, I've hit the heart attack age for a cabby, plus the job has gone officious now, to many rules and regs, I've noticed a lot of illogical things going on in the city lately, ranks being put in unsighted positions etc making it easy for private hire to illegally pick up, my money is way down now because I rely on ppl flagging me, this has all but finished now since the foreign legion arrived on PH and ppl still flag them to get a slightly cheaper fare, what they don't realise is the quid they save won't buy much of a if Toukocchan who arrived yesterday driving on his brothers licence has a bad smash and they get hurt, sue the cabby baby sue the cabby, cos the insurance company will just say, no call should've meant no ride, so no claim, it's another one of those funny ppl things, how much is entrance to the club? £7 mate...ok here you go, can I have 2 lagers and a vodka and coke please...thats £9.40, thx luv keep the change...3 of em gets a cab...how much is that mate, £6 please...HOW MUCH!

Makes ya sick, £2 each and they gripe, but £30 to get in and have one drink each is a bargain.
