Default Keep losing my stereo settings

I have a Vectra Elite with a DAB Digital stereo in it. I've set all 9 presets to the stations I want, and it is fine for a while, then for no apparent reason I'll drive the car one day, change station and find that all my settings have been lost and I've got to reprogramme them all over again. I've had the car about 4 months and this has happened about 5 times. There's no pattern as such to it, other than the fact that it doesn't happen in the middle of a drive. Every time it's happened it's been from starting the ignition.

    Any ideas?

Sounds like you might have the permanent live and ignition live feed swapped over? It's cutting power to the unit when you turn off the ignition and therefore losing all the settings.

    Hi Duncan.

If that was the case would it not do this everytime though? It's only very occasionally. Bear in mind I start the ignition 7 or 8 times a day for four months and it's only happened about 4 or 5 times in total

Ah right. yes, it would do it all the time if they were mixed up. What make/model is it - maybe someone who has that model could help.

Is it worth taking it out and checking all the connections - does sound like some sort of power supply problem?

I suppose the other possibility is the head unit is faulty?

I've been waiting for it to happen again, and it did today, big style!

The Stereo is a cd40 Opera (if that makes any sense?) It has DAB, and that's where the problem lyes

I got in it today, started the engine to find that, yet again, I'd lost my channel preset settings. This meant tuning it all in again to the relevant 1-9 numbers. I've noticed that whenever this happen it takes ages for th stereo to pick up all the dab stations again. For some reason I only get about 5 or 6 when I scroll through, compared to dozens normally, then all of a sudden they're all there again and I can set my stations.

Anyway, I got back in later on, turned on the ignition to be greeted by a new message on the center console screen:

    DAB Box Error

Now the dab wont work at all and I've had to configure my stereo to fm and am, which, trust, me, when you've had digital is absolute cack

Any ideas as to what's caused this, other than it's b uggered?

I think that may well be the reason!

    Default Hallelujah!

Thank God someone else has this problem. I have had the same DAB radio since I bought the car in October. Like you the DAB presets vanish mysteriously on a regular basis. At first it was about once a week but now every second or third day. It is driving me nuts - yet it sounds trivial. Spke to dealer this week who was going to check with Vx to see if it was a known fault.

Now I know at least that I am not doing something daft!

How did you get on with warranty claim?

Yep happens on our car two. Ours will loose the DAB presets on a daily basis, however all Bass Treble and FM/AM presets are OK, just the DAB ones. Couldn't be bothered to take it into Vauxhalls, however no I know others are having issues I think I will now - This site is great isn't it
