    Cool auto box query

hi just about to pick up a 04 2.2 sri auto reading some of the posts there appears to be a problem with the cooler seals?
I have the following questions :-
1, is there any way i can tell if this work has been done?
2, the guy told me its a sealed box? is this the case or can I check and change the transmission oil?

You can check with VX for the mod's and the gearbox is sealed but can be drained and refilled if needed.

The box should only ever need topping up apparantly as they class it sealed for life.

gsi3.2 might offer some good info too

There is no dipstick on these boxes. Also I believe if any topping up has to be done, the required amount is done electronically or maybe the fluid has to be weighed. Can't remember which. As already said though, these boxes are sealed for life.

sorry to correct you matey, but there is a dipstick....

it's green in colour, found to the left of the oil cooler pipes when veiwed from above, and secured with a 12mm hex bolt.... two sets of markings, for hot and cold levels..

Also, they are not sealed for life.. there is a drain hole, and a filler...if the car is used as a cab, police vehicle or tows a trailer/caravan then it should be flushed and have the fluid changed every 60,000 miles..
