    Default 2.2 non direct

    I've been looking around lately for Zafira for a replacement to my veccy. Seen a few 2.2 non direct models that i fancy, I was just wondering whats that engine like as in terms of reliability and consumption. Any probs after 100K?
    Or would the 1.8 be a better choice?

    Not sure about the 2.2 non direct..... but the 1.8 would surely struggle with the weight of the car. My uncle has the old shape in 1.6 guise and its a pig - so underpowered and noisy on the motorway (which is where he spends most of the day....)

    thats what I was thinking. Looks like the 2.2 is my only choice really. But with only a budget of about 3.5k it'll have to be a high miler.

    Sure that the 2.2 is pretty reliable - see quite a few about around here.

    Engine : Z22SE (2.2 Petrol)

    Year : 2004

    Mileage : 137000

    The z22se (none direct version of the 2.2) is a good strong lump mate, pulls well with nearly 150 bhp. Down side is the 2.2 has a major Achilles heal, the early lumps have a problem with the chains snapping. If the car has good service history and it has the later oil jet fitted then the 2.2 is a great lump to go for. Although, if the history is poor then steer clear. HTH
