    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

    Default

1.8 petrol, still good from new at over 80K and 4 years.

They will last differing lengths of time, the types of journeys you do will affect life. If you mainly do motorway journeys, they last ages as the exhaust system is warm and evaporates any condensation forming inside. If it's now warm, no condensation occurs at all.
The condensation is NOT just water, it also contains some by-products of combustion which are acidic and therefore corrode the exhaust system from the inside faster than water / spray etc corrodes from the outside.
Short journeys where the exhaust system doesn't get very hot will therefore have lots of condensed acidic liquid corroding the metal quite nicely.

The outer casing of mine has corroded but the exhaust it'self is fine. Used some metal putty and aircraft repair tape (sticky back metal foil) to reform the joint. No problems so far. Car is 2004 2.0 t 52000.
