Noisy A/C

Finally the sun has started to come out which is a very welcome change, Put the A/C on and there is quite a distinct whining noise coming from it. Is this a common fault or is it something more sinister? Is there an easy cure or will it need to go to Vx?

Could be coming from the fan behind the pollen filter. recently had an issue with my AC whistling, which was caused by previous water ingress from a blocked scuttle and drain. WD40 sorted it out.

John, WD40 is not a lubricating oil it is a penetrating spray that will remove grease. Try a few drops of oil to lubricate the fan again.

Sounds like the problem I have. How easy is it to access the offending fan to give it a dose of lubricant?

you should give your A/C a blast every month or so just to keep it ticketyboo.

I do that as a matter of course - especially since Vx replaced my air con compressor for me (how kind!!)

Hasn't stopped the squeaking fan though!

I have this "whistling" too until the fan settles down. How do I get into it to lube it?
