Hi all,
Had a brown trouser moment of my own last night and am now knackered after basically no sleep...........
To set the scene we live in the middle of no where in castle grounds - when it goes dark there are no lights outside whatsoever and we have sheep for neighbours........... and the house is a cottage on one level.
Went to bed bout half midnight, didn't have telly on as usual as the satelite dish has blown out of the tree!!!
Just closing my eyes when there was a flash of light passed the window, thought i must have imagined it and carried on when it hapened again.
By now i'm thinking oh oh. Then the wife says did you see that light then, and there's more.
I creep in the living room and this light flickers into the living room windows - defo a torch now!
I put the outside lights on, couldn't see anything - didn;t go out as i have a 5 yr old and 7 mnth old in the house to consider.
eveythin dies down, lights back off, back into bed. Nothing for a while then more torch light and a bang.
I decided at this point there was defo someone out there, but i couldn't see who or how many and given i have no neighbours and kids to consider didn't wanna go confronting an unknown force.
So i hit 999, explained the situation to a really helpful operator who chatted to me saying she's sending a car and kept me on phone till they got here. Talk about a response though, we ended up with two patrol cars and a dog unit!!!
Anyone because of the nature of where we live there's no chance of seeing if anyone had been around or finding them and they couldn't use the dog because of the lambs so a few patrols later they left us to it and there were no further lights. i did end up sitting there till it was light with a few choice items to hand though!!
A big respect to the help from the police and a lesson learnt for me...
It doesn;t mater how hard you feel when squaring up to someone, when you think your families at risk and you don't know if you can protect them it makes you feel like a wet sponge!!
Drama over for now and a moving date of 2 weeks time (already booked before last night).
Roll on the city life again!
Nick
