Default Age 25 to buy alcohol?

I was in ASDA last week and an annoucment was read over the PA that as of next week alcohol would not be served to anyone looking under 25 as of the following week.

Now part of me thinks good on ASDA for taking a responsible attitude and the other half thinks if I was over 18 but looked under 25 I would be pretty annoyed to be refused (if I didnt have ID).

Being over 25 and looking like a worn sock I dont have anything to worry about but thought this may make an interesting poll.

    What do y'all think?

I really wish they would just ID EVERYONE. I don't care if you're blatantly a 12 year old, or looking close to 90. If they had to ID everyone with a Passport or a Driving Licence (or one other form of national identity) then there could be absolutely no complaints, everyone would know they'd have to show ID EVERYTIME. If you don't have ID? Tough, you can wait. Really frustrates me.

    Just ID everyone, God dammit!

For christ sake, you can have sex at 16, vote at 18. join the army and get shot to kingdom come from 16.... But now you can't buy alcohol unless you're over 25.

Great, all that'll happen is people will be on street corners buying weed instead and getting on that slippery slope as opposed to a few beers.

This country has gone bluddy mad. Time to book me, Shaz and Lukey a one way ticket out.....

Weed is less destructive than Alcohol.

But that's a different discussion altogether.

But it's still 21 to buy alcohol though isn't it? Currently there are signs in off licences etc. saying that if you look under 21, with the age limit being 18, don't be offended if you get asked for ID kinda thing.

Does seem a bit OTT by Asda to be making it that they'll ask for ID if you look under 25 if the required age is 18. I'd understand if they required age was 21.

Personally I think it is a response to the hammering they have had to the cheap, cheap smart price beer and other offers they do.

I don't carry ID, and I will fight every effort to try to force me to carry it.

I think Asda ID-ing anyone who looks under 25 is excessive, Currently they do it to people who look under 21, and I think that is sensible.
