DIY oil change cost?

My new 05 Vece 1.9 SXI needs an oil change.
As I like getting my hands dirty I thought I would DIY. I went to the local VH dealer in Poole to get 5L of GM-LL-B-025 5W-30 Super Synthetic and that’s when I had heart stopped. £45 for 5L holy cow. I told the parts feller that he must have the wrong price as I only wanted 5L not 5 tubs and I will get some Castrol Edge for the motor factors down the road. Then the magic happened. He stared at his at his PC with a quizzical look and bashed some key for a minute of two. Hay presto he could give me staff discount and let me have 5L for £21.50. What a nice chap and he even gave me a free sump bolt washer.

Total £29.61


This leads me onto my questions. Did I really get discount or is the oil normally £21.50? What do other people pay for their oil change service items and if they can get them cheaper form where.

Ah looks like you and i have the same avatar,good as it is though,yep your right with the oil price,i tried to get the discount would,nt budge.
