Default GSi - going, going, BOING!!

Got into the car tonight and there was an almighty boing sound. I could only think the worst and suspected one of the springs.

Had a quick check and all seems OK. Drove over a few speed bumps and still all felt OK. Handling and steering at high and low speeds also seems the same (and the brakes still work).

I know it's hard to diagnose without a sound (this thread is useless without noise ) but anyone had anything similar?

    Am I worrying about nothing

could it of been the spring popping back into its seat? My asta does a fair bit. Start it up on the drive, reverse back and then set off and I get a boing klunk from the drivers front. I had it looked at by two garages I trust and they cant find anything wrong. One of them theorised at the above (spring popping into the seat)

That's what's worrying me - it's got the mod. I've also looked at all the linkages, drop arms etc., and all seems fine.

Could it be possible that the strut top bearing is causing this issue? I mean that if the bearing is stuck/harsh, would it then prevent the sping from turning smoothly and cause this popping in the pan?
