Question Rear Bumper Removal on a Signum

    Ey up,

Can anyone tell me how much of a job it is to get the rear bumper off my Signum. I'm retro fitting some reverse sensors if i have enough room between the bumper and crash bar, but due to bad weather and dark nights i haven't been able to suss out how to get it off as yet.

    Cheers

    Hi

This PDF should help you out. You may want to just have a quick look under your car before you start pulling the bumper off. I don't wish to sound negative, but I don't think you're going to get any sensor on there without cutting into the crash limiter.

Have a look underneath behind the rear bumper. If you look up you'll see the crash limiter - square metal box section running across the width of the car. The two end sensors will be fine as the crash limiter tapers off there, but look at the space between the crash limiter and the bumper for the two middle sensors - it's bu**er all, no space whatsoever!!

Thanks for this Duncan looks fairly straight forward. I reckon i need about 25mm to get the sensors in and and not crush the cables, but from doing the old "hand under the bumper test", i think it will be less than that as you say. I notice you have sensors on your Signum, i guess these are pukka fit vauxhall ones, in which case are they shallow sensors or do Vxl mod the crash limiter???

    Thanks for any advice mate

They do indeed 'mod' the crash limiter - certainly on the aftermarket kit. Can't recall if it's a different crash limiter on the factory fit sensors. Have a look here - that explains it. Read from that post onwards.

Ahem I'm even on the end of that thread that you linked me too!!

TBH I didn't realise you were the guy who had the problem with getting them fitted, but nice work getting them for nothing!

    Thanks for the advice anyway...

A bit off topic, have you had any problems with a rattling tailgate?? I'm going to take mine in and see if they can adjust it.

Yes, I did. Easy to remedy - and I've even done a couple of other member's Vecs for them. You've just reminded me, I took pics to post up a How 2 but never got round to it. I'll see if I can do it now.
