Default Insurance quotes 05 1.9 cdti sri 150 nav

Ok, I know this has probably been done to death on more than one occasion, but the terrible day approaches when I have to renew my car insurance.

When I originally bought my Vectra my insurer at the time was Co-op insurance and they quoted me a rather healthy £879.00 which I thought was a bit steep. Norwich Union Direct had given me a free week insurance when I bought it to give me time to sort my policy out provided I let them quote when it was due, they came back with a quote of £500.00 which I took as I was fairly certain (and turned out to be right) that Co-op wouldn't drop that far.

Last year my renewal came in at £547.00 which I renewed never thinking about it as I was busy with other things at the time and to my cost didn't have time to look around.

So now we come to this year and I have time to look

Searching the usual websites I have come up with quotes ranging from £327.00 to £653.00, Norwich Union who I am currently with quoting mid range at £455.00 which is less than I paid last year (bet my renewal doesn't come at that price)

My current favourites are M&S at £336.32, Admiral at £348.05, Post Office at £368.61 and M&S Premier at £403.56 which includes legal cover, breakdown cover, courtesy car, key care and windscreen cover. the others have some but not all of these features.

Has anyone got any experience of these insurers good or bad before I make my choice, or any other suggestions.

Sorry for the long post but almost all of us must go through this stress once a year.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Elephant have been good for me the past couple of years (owned by the same company as bell, admiral etc).

Nice ladies when you phone em up during the day, but foreigners at night though... You have been warned lol...

Try bell and elephant as well, will be the same price ish but may be a couple of quid cheaper... Think elephant were £30 cheaper than admiral for some reason when I looked for insurance last...

I use Churchill who seem pretty good on price.
I pay £250(£100 excess) for a V6Cdti Elite, having said that I am an old git with plenty of NCB

Morning everyone - have you heard of a site called Greasy Palm.
Basically it is a cashback site - they do lots of offers on everything, such as sign up for EVO magazine - get 3 issues for a pound (direct debit set up) and then they give you £3.50 cashback - so 3 good quality magazines and £2.50 back to you as a thank you - after the 2nd issue arrives you cancel the direct debit.
Now to the point - the best quote I could get for my old 04 150 CDTI Elite in February this year was £337 from Churchill (obtained price through one of the comparison sites.) I went to greasy palm - logged in - then went to Churchill site through their link and did a quote the old fashion way of putting all my details in. Quote comes back at the same price. But here is the good bit - Churchill currently have an offer on of £70.00 cashback till 31st of March 2008. Completed insurance - paid all that and 2 days later I have the £70.00 cashback in my account. This will be paid directly to my current account on the 2nd of April. Other companies offer similar deals (Priveldge also doing a £70.00 one now.)
Lots and lots of offers. So far since joining had £270 in cash back.
Here's a link - if you sign up through this link I get £7.00 cashback after you have earnt £15.00 in cashback.
    http://www.greasypalm.co.uk/r/?l=744545
You don't have to use this link, the normal address is:
    http://www.greasypalm.co.uk/
It's always worth a try - certain companies may come in a little higher than other quotes but with cashback it often can then be the cheapest.
    Regards
    Martin

Quidco is better than greasy palm as you get 100% of the cashback not just 50% like what greasy palm offer, you do pay Quidco £5 per year but it comes out of your cashback

    www.quidco.co.uk

Eg Privilidge £100 at Quidco, @ GP £70
