    confused Egr Valve ?

Just Had The Egr Valve Replaced On My 1.9 Cdtdi 150, Under Warrenty. Does Anyone Know If This Will Be An Upgraded Version (if There Is Such A Thing ?) Or A Non Upgraded One And What Is The Likelyhood Of It Going Again In The Future ?

havent been on here for a wjile and i dont own a vectra c but i am a master tech for vx. the egr valve issue has been ongoing for a year or so and back then there was talk of blanking them off and sps program the ecu to deactivate. anyway had a message from technical 2 weeks ago and said we are to clean the fautly ones and hope it lasts until they release the mod in a couple of months or so, now dont take this as gospel but i know a chap at technical and by all accounts a new valve will be introduced which is bigger and able to cope with the copious amount of crap that seems to build up in these manifolds. so until then a block has now been put on ordering egr valves and dealers are instructed to clean them. hope this helps

    Default EGR valve

I may have this problem too on my 150cdti.
Is the valve easy to get at and clean and will it need to be tech 2'd if it has been dissconnected?

    Cheers

My cdti was checked on thursday by vx,they didn't have it very long and we were called to come and collect it,they said we would be contacted again soon about getting the EGR valve replaced,I was wondering had they done anything in the short time they had the car (30 mins) because it is running a lot better, still sometimes there is a lack of power but just for a second or so.........

Have had the same problem with my 150 cdti Auto Estate, losing power and then clearing but has got progressively worse.
Took it to the vx dealer by the wife (I was away) who was no commital when she mentioned the EGR valve (I think he was more impressed by her so called knowledge) but did not deny the problem. For 1 week they could not give me a date on the arrival of the "part" they were waiting for then day after my call right out the blue I got a call saying the car could be picked up immediately. That was 1 week ago, everything still OK.
With what I have learned on from the Forum this seems to all come together with what John says above which is rather worrying as my wife drives the kids in this car every day and the valve could go anytime as I doubt it has been replaced but here's hoping..

Hi guys my m8 had his EGR replaced recently, took a few weeks for it to arrive, I spoke to the mechanic and turns out delay was due to new design which is self cleaning so should help in future. Was going to get mine done just in case as I have a 2500 mile trip coming up but mechanic says my 2.2dti has different design of valve so not to worry.

    Hi all

"SELF CLEANING" i wonder if its a ball bearing mod...

i have read that you can add a ball bearing and it cleans inside the egr as it rattles around.
i have seen this mod for sale on eeeebay

i recon this bypass is the way forward (yep i know it aint for a vauxhall but the principles are the same)... baz

Ball bearing in the EGR valve??.. why not just tip it in the intake and have done with it....

Self cleaning means they will get the software to drive it open and shut more often to help it move the carbon.. Yes, I agree.. a EGR replacement pipe is one way forward, but the engines software will need altering to tell it the EGR isn't present ( not a DIY job)..

in the meantime, all folks can do is try and clean them out with carb cleaner to decoke them and help them move again...

Don't go adding loose mettalic items to your cars engines folks.....not recommended here at all..
