ok i thinkinh about getting a diesel for my next car but i wanna know about tuning. what the difference between a tuning box and a chip? are they the same or diff? can you have both on your car.

what other engine mods could i have apart from, filter exhaust, dump valve.

Tuning box is basically a plug-in-and-drive for £80, Don't know much what Chipping is. Remapping though comes in at about £500ish.

Remapping tends to have the least problems though. there are a good few threads on here regarding box issues.

    Diesel wise:

    2.2DTI = 123BHP - Can be taken to 140BHP+
    1.9CDTI [120] = 118BHP can be taken to 145BHP+
    1.9CDTI [150] = 147BHP Can be taken to 200BHP
    3.0CDTI Euro 3 = 174BHP Can go to 220BHP+
    3.0CDTI Euro 4 = 181BHP Can go to 220BHP+

2.2DTI and 1.9CDTI [150] just to warn you have the worst reputation according to some......

I gave it an oil change and a new paper panel filter and it jumped from 150bhp to 250bhp... not bad hu!

The only things that will make a big difference are :

remap/tuning box (fuel pressure and quantity and boost pressure)
    water methanol
    NOS

Smaller increases can be gained by modifying:

    exhaust
    airbox and filter
    front mounted intercooler

Chipping (replacement or upgrade of existing chipset on ECU) is 'old hat' now. Superceded by remapping of ECU software - hence 'remap'.

The memory in the ECU is now rewritable in-situ using the ODB or OBDII port. Faster, easier, better... I just described me
