Fuel pump??

What are the symptoms of the dreaded fuel pump fault???

I am suffering hesitation/missfire and fuel gauge fluctuations. I put £10 in on a quarter and it filled up!!!! Happy until it dropped back to a quarter within 10 miles!!!

fuel pump fault is rough running and lack of pressure on the common rail lighting the EML..Fuel guage runs through the CIM module but the fuel gauge is also on the low pressure pump ( i think) so if there is a low pressure problem and a level problem i think that a fuel pressure check on the low pressure side would be a good place to start, as would a gauge test..
