Default Any idea about new keys "not VX"

    Maybe somebody knows ???
My sister in law has a 99/V renault scenic and the ignition barrel has been playing up. " when you start the car the key doesn't spring back".
But now the car won't start at all as it started to make a crakling sound
The AA came out and said the barrel is knacked.

I've found a new barrel and wiring harness and all locks and keys for 35 quid.
Question is will these keys start the car or will they need programing to the car???
    Any help is greatly appriciated.

The only way round it is to get a complete set of keys, transponder receiver, ignition barrel, ECH and ECU from the same donor car. But to be honest I think it'd be cheaper to get renault to re-program for you.

Thanks guy's.I've just had the barrell out and tried it like the car theif do. With just the screwdriver into the plastic conection at the back of the barell. And still nothing.

    It bumps fine and runs.

I think it's the starter motor.
    What do you think.

if when you turn the back of the ignition switch you get dash lights and just not the starter when you turn it to posn 3 it may well be just the switch...

try bridging out the switch with a lump of wire.... determine the live feed, then apply it to the feed line for the starter solienoid.. if the starter turns, it's the switch.. if it still makes bad noises then investigate the starter and it's wiring..TBH, Renaults aren't known for thier good wiring at the best of times..ever seen corroded wires inside a loom/.. Renault speciality due to poor copper content....
