Default Don't park facing up hill if you drive a DTi.

    Anyone else had this problem?

I normally park my car facing down hill ready to leave our dead end road but was in a rush yesterday so parked facing up hill instead of going to the end of the road to turn around.
Anyway went out this morning jumped in turned the key and hey presto the ol' girl didnt want to know, just kept turning over without starting. Anyway I can see my bank balance taking a nose dive.......
Spoke to my father in law (ex Vauxhall technician) turns out its a known probelm with the leak off pipes on the DTi. Just had to keep turning it over till it started, which it did eventually.

Apparently there is a modification to the leak off system which prevents this from happening, which I will be having done when he services the car in a couple of weeks.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this problem or am I just lucky and special.

    Default Leak Off Pipes

best thing to do is get the leak off pipes replaced and then fit a one way valve in the system to stop the fuel draining back to the tank

Costs about £12 for the valve and about £50 for the leakoff pipes to be replaced

I had the same problem with my old Vectra B and I had the leak off pipes replaced, problem is it still did it. When parking facing uphill once I actually heard a glugging sound of fuel running back. It turned out that the fuel filter housing had two seals fitted in it, the reason for this apparentlt being that the fuel filter housing is prone to distortion, another common fault apparently, Complete new filter housing cured the problem.

My old Vec B used to do it.

I cured it by not parking facing uphill, sounds simple, but worked a treat. And I'm not being sarcastic for once.

Agreed, mine didn't do it if parked on the flat or facing downhill, started fine.
