    Default Virgin Media

    Is anyone with virgin media?

if so, do you have a V+ box (one of the HD ones)

if you do i have a question.

i know BBC HD is the only channel on HD at the mo, but does the HDMI connection uprate the picture to 720i like one of those hdmi dvd players?

    cheers

    Russ

I've got the Virgin Media V box and lead, but I'm sorry I can't answer you question as I've not bothered with the HD yet, but I will have a look tonight for you.

Yes the V + will upscale the picture quality when connected via a hdmi cable. If your Tv allows it will display 1080 .It does not do this via scart.I noticed a massive difference in quality on sd pictures with Virgin than I ever did with Sky.Yes they dont have HD channels like Sky but not that bothered because the pic quality is good .Anyway you have all the hd content by video on demand.

    I hope that helps.

The V+ box will upscale all Virgin content to either 720 or 1080.

BBC HD is pure Hugh Definition so does not need to upscale.

Try watching Torchwood in HD, Amazing detail.

If you go into the HD menu from settings ou can set the amount of upscaling you want.

You can also pick films in HD and previously transmitted BBC HD content.

I've had my V+ box for over a year now, coupled to a Toshiba 32" HD LCD

by a QUED HDMI cable, and 5.1 sound surround system, and the picture quality still amazes me!

If the house caught fire, it would be the first thing I picked up on the way out!!

thanks guys i think you have swayed me towards the v+ box as upscaled footy is better then spending 300 quid on a sky hd box considering my hd tele is only 720i

Some channels are upscaled so well they give a HD feel. This is why I dont miss over rated expensive Sky HD.
