    Default Petrol Consumption 2.2 non direct

    hiya All I Just Wanted To Know Does The Airbox Mod Use More Fuel I Have Done It And It Seems To Over The Past Few Months Or Is It Just Me I Just Want To Make It More Economical Otherwise It Has To Go So Im Trying Everything

    well it increases the air flow... so the fuel will have to be increased too...

    so I imagine it would lower your mpg

    the only thing that lowers the MPG is your right foot....

    the airbox mod won't affect the consumption..it just makes the airflows path smoother.

    lol yeh need to take the brick out of my foot the computer shows 31.9 but i think it tells lies

    I have done that mod, and other mods to increase the airflow, neither of which has affected my mpg.

    As has been said, it only suffers when you want to see what difference it has made to performance and you start flooring it more!

    It will settle back down as you forget you want to feel it go faster, like I found out!

    this mod must use more petrol/diesel because why do people say to reset the computer to let it adapt to the more air getting in eg more petrol to be pumped in

    more air doesn't equal more petrol...

    The air box mod alows the intake to draw air over a better path than with the restrictor fitted ( only for noise)...the only time more fuel is added is when you give it more throttle... the minor amounts of extra air won't affect the fuelling.. the mod is noticeable because the engine can breath a little easier with the restrictor removed..

    I did over 120000 miles in a 2.2 '03 plate rarely did the fuel consumption go over 32mpg

    thanks gsi 3.2 thats cleared it up for me i will leave this mod in place better to let the car breathe more im going to replace my spark plugs as every now and again it seems to miss and jump maybe this could be a problem in fuel
