The auto gear lever?
I need to replace the broken trim around the gear lever when the car comes back before I P/X it and the trim won't come off without removing the knob.

Anyone?
never took one apart but from EPC it seems that it pops off in a similar style to the manual knobs, then you can disassemble the gearshift.
Thanks, but how does one "pop one off"!!
Bear in mind it has the shift lock on it as well.
the knob appears to come with the shiftlock..the collar underneath is also a seperate part...
it won't come off easily, but the manuals normally come off with a few good taps from underneath knocking them upwards..
If it's the part around the actual lever/shaft then it's fairly easy...
1) Put lever into D position.
2) Grasp the trim on the shaft and turn clockwise about 45°. Then with a screwdriver, or similar, push this bit of trim downwards i.e. towards the floor.
3) This will reveal a small lug on the selector knob. Use a small screwdriver to release the lug and remove the knob.
Voila! Fitting is reverse of removal.

ah, the power of TIS.....
It's the bit that has the gear markings on Duncan.
