    Default Loss of Power

Hi, i'm new to this and this is my first message.

I own an 04 Vectra SRI CDTI and have been running it for 6 months with now issues. Driving to work today, 70 mph in 6th gear then put my foot down to accelerate and no power. Pulled over and turned the engine off for a coulpe of minutes then restarted. Could not get more than 20mph. Crawled into work and called out the AA. The ran a dyognostic but no fault codes came up. Has been relayed to VX for them to investigate.

Can anyone advise to possible issues or areas to look into.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    DynamoGav

Swirl Valve or EGR. Both well known faults on the 1.9 cdti. Did you get any spanner lights on the dash?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Thanks for the reply.

There were no lights on the dash. Do you know if these are expensive...

Erm, yes and yes. Do a search for swirl valve, there will be some info on what to look for and how to make a cheap diy repair.

edit: I would have thought it would show up a fault light.

Cheers Big Sig you were right.

VX have diagnosed this as an EGR valve problem. They have informed me that this is a very common fault with vectras, however, due to so many cars having faults there is a backlog in the supply of this part.

I am on a waiting list, with 4 others at my dealers, for the valve and have been told that it could be up to 3 weeks. They have told me that the car currently drives fine but do not know for how long.

And yes it is expensive, £75 for the diagnostic & £200 for the valve, looks like VX have you by the short & curlies....

Be warned all you owners out there....
