    Unhappy Power Steering problem

I'm a newby to this site so please forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong place....anyway.

I've got this odd problem whereby when I turn the steering wheel my side/main lights flicker, so does the internal lights and also if the heater inside the car is on it slows down !!!! Any idea.

Its almost like the power steering is taking all the cars power when I'm turning the wheel. The light flickering is very noticable........people keep thinking I'm flashing them!!!

I think its going have to go into VXL

It does sound like it's zapping the power mate doesn't it.

I'd take it straight into Vx bud.

(Edit: Oh, and by the way - welcome to Vec-C)

    Welcome Steve,

Like AJA said, take it back and get them to measure the current draw on the electric pump. They pull about 80 amps so if you're parking the light flicker is really noticeable..It shouldn't pull down as hard as you describe thou.. Could be many thing's, so if you've a warranty take it in..

Yep, that sounds pretty normal to me. The electric power assist on Vectra C's can use a truckload of current (maybe 60A or more!).

    Welcome mate,

I've not come across this with mine.

As Alex says get it in to vx for a check, it's not worth messing about with steering etc - it could give out when you least expect it.

Yeh I know mate, they reckon you can steer it "with increased effort without power assistance".

My Ar**, if you weren't expecting it while driving (& who would?) you'd be likely to hit something.
