    Default gear knob pops off

My 55plate gear knob in my veccy pops off! it does it at really annoying times like accelerating when I'm about to change gear it just appears in my left hand or in the passenger footwell! I don't know if its possible to glue it because of the reverse function where you have to pull the bit into the knob itself. However, I went to my vauxhall main dealer in Tun Wells and they say it will cost me £139 because it needs a whole new gear stick set...surely not! Why do they not cover things like this in the warranties?

it should be covered under warranty...

if they refuse to cover it.. superglue it to the shaft again, just don't hit it on with a hammer.. it'll go down too far and you won't be able to select reverse..

just glue it with superglue or epoxy and leave it to cure.. it'll stay on..

the spring will compress down as the knob is replaced... put the glue into the knob and put the knob onto the shaft firmly..

cool, thanks, i'll try it in the morning. May save me £139, what a rip-off though. I asked them if its the same price for a sri or vxr knob and they said I'd be lokking at £200. I nearly fell off the floor. lol cheers

garvey, just pull it lol may work, if you pull it whilst your in 2nd, 4th or 6th for those lucky enough to have it, it may just pop off eventually, not advised, just a shame mine happened without me wanting it to.
