hi all,
is it safe to use the anti-stall feature regularly?? i.e. when you are driving in slow moving traffic and you don't want to keep dropping the clutch.
i can't see how / why it would cause any damage but i thought i'd check.
cheers

I assume maybe he's referring to the general engine management, whereby when the revs get low (gradually, of course) the ECU will spot this and increase the revs automatically (only momentarily).
try it out dudes!

we have a winner! wrightgj is correct. but its not only a momentarily increase in the revs. basically if i can engage a gear, get the car rolling then come off the throttle completely, the revs will eventually drop and stabilise at around 800rpm, this will go on permanently, until i either brake or accelerate. almost as though the car has an automatic box, where there is still power going to the wheels even with no throttle.
is this standard to all vectras?
I think this is standard on all cars nowadays!!!

it's a handy little feature, one that i was not aware of until that thread last week about the diffculties of climbing the hill when the snow had settled.
can't remember who posted but i'm sure someone suggested to get the car rolling and then let it drive itself up the hill.
Use it all the time in traffic..Auto box means I leave it in drive and when I release the brake to go forwards it will creep on it's own.. If I leave the box in drive, with my foot on the brake and the car stationary, then it automatically selects neutral until I release the brake when it selects drive by itself.. Lazy man's cars these.. .. Perfect for me then.
GSi 3.2 - can you feel it change into neutral when stationary with the foot on brake? - or when it goes into first when you take your foot off the brake?
does it do it in manual mode? and then display 'N'
I cant sense anything happening on mine in auto or manual
Rich
It slips silently into neutral when the brake is held down when stationary, regardless of whether it's in full-auto or manual mode. In this condition "D" is displayed in auto, "1" in manual mode.
