Default 2.2 Direct Petrol or 2.0t?

As you may know I've just bought a 2.2 Direct Petrol. I've been thinking for a while that I'm kind of wishing I'd gone for a 2.0t. So what made me plump for the 2.2? Well, when at the dealership I was looking through the book at the performance figures.
I've just got rid of a 2.0dti, so I didn't want another diesel. Im well aware how very good and pokey the new diesels are and I'm not putting them down in anyway. I just wanted a petrol this time.
I went for the 2.2direct purely on the book figures. The fuel consumption was better - something that's quite important as I do high mileage - and, the clincher, the performance figures, on paper were hardly any different.
The 2.2direct does 0-60 in 8.7 secs. The 2.0t in 8.1 secs. Am I gonna really notice this? No I thought. The top end on the 2.2direct is booked at 135mph. The 2.0t is 150mph or so. The top end isn't important though as I'll never take it to a track anyway.

So why is this still bugging me? I'm still sat here sort of wishing I'd gone for the 2.0t. Am I going to be hugely disappointed with the 2.2 direct compared to the 2.0t? Are the performance figures misleading? I'm assuming the 2.2 direct will feel a lot faster than my old 2.0dti? Anyone on here drove both the 2.2 direct and the 2.0t and can give a summary of the difference?

That's what I've been thinking. Any idea why the book figures are so similar? I'm wondering if it just feels quicker to 60 because of the better torque, whereas it's actually not a lot different?

Yeah, you're right. However, I've been used to driving a 2..0dti. I think the 0-60 on those are well over 10 seconds. Even 11 seconds? Not sure if someone can provide a 0-60 for the 2-0dti please? I've searched online but can't find it. So I'm assuming the 2-2 direct petrol will feel like a rocket compared to this?

I drove both and the turbo did feel quicker but I didn't go for it because the 2.2 was a bit cheaper to run, 36MPG compared to 31 and group 10 insurance instead of 12 + RFL. The power delivery of the 2.0T was more aggressive so was and felt quicker. A remap would transform the 2.0T again but I assume if you do a lot of miles fuel economy was the reason why you went for the 2.2 in the end.

    Stop it

Just found the 0-60 for the 2.0dti on Parkers and it's 12.9 seconds! So will feel a lot quicker. Yeah it's a bit late now. Due into the dealers next weekend lol

Steve, yes fuel economy and insurance were the mainr reasons

    According to parkers 0-60 on 2.0DTi = 12.0secs
