Default Connecting HDD to Sky box?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but here goes.
I've just bought an lcd tv package, when i've connected everything up and tried to record something from Sky onto the HDD the picture quality has been crap.I'm using a scart lead to connect the two to each other is there a better way of doing this?

WOW 3 post while i wrote 1... lol

Unless you have a HD box with an HDMI out on, id say no, scart will be ya best picture.

Just make sure your using the shortest and thickest scart cable you can get.

Read the HDD bx manual, it may have quality settings, it could be recording on the lowest setting to save hdd space. I would guess it is this, as when watching tv normally it would be the same quality as the recording. but as the recording is poorer than watching normaly id say its the recording resolution!??

only HD boxes have HDMI out, and only certain HDD boxes have HDMI in, so you need to check that before you go and buy an HDMI cable mate.

I reckon i'll need to get another scart lead the current ones an old one. The sky box isn't HD either. Thanks for the replies anyway i'm off to do some shopping.

You might be right there as the picture quality is fine when i watch sky through the HDD it's just when i record and then play back that the picture quality is poor.
