Default TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

Looking at another project on the car, tyre pressure monitoring system. This option is still available on certain Opel Vectra's but has been deleted from the options list here in the UK.

Pre-facelift cars require a receiver on each wheel arch but on the facelift there are only two receivers required one front and one rear. From research it looks as though the receivers mount on the passenger side of the car. The front receiver is mounted behind the wheel arch liner and the rear one again behind the rear wheel arch liner.

The system comprises of a control unit which mounts in the right hand side of the boot in the first aid compartment, two receivers as mentioned above and transmitter valves fitted to each wheel/tyre.

It's looking as though cars fitted with AFL will have the harness already in place to connect the wheel arch receivers to the control unit. This I have to confirm but from browsing the German forums this seems to be the case.

Below is a list of the parts required, bear in mind if you are interested in this mod then none AFL cars will require a couple of wiring harness which will be a nightmare to do and knowing the cost of wiring harness probably put the cost up massively.

    Control Unit 13172984

    Receiver front 13172992

    Receiver rear 13172977

    Wheel valve transmitters 13172567 X4

    Valve seal 9198632 X4

    Dust caps 93184614 X4

Rear receiver Screw to body 11097151 X2

Nut front receiver to body 90287467 X2

Tech2 is required to program the system and to enable the colour display which displays tyre pressure and air loss. I'll be giving this a go in the near future and probably writing a 'how to'

    Paul.

Look forward to it Paul. I priced this up a while ago to fit to mine and it was starting to get a bit expensive once you added all the receivers etc., bearing in mind it would need four on mine. Decided that as I visually inspect the tyres regularly anyway it wasn't worth it, for me, to pursue it.

Interested to see how you get on though.

I remember pricing it up on my old motor D, it did get stupid. Should be a load cheaper on the facelift though with only needing two receivers and hopefully having the wiring harness in place.

Yep, that'll help a lot. As you say, on the pre-face it was getting a bit silly price wise which is why I, and obviously you, never bothered.

Never!!! Just stumbled accross a potential problem. The front harness may well be there but there's a chance the rear one isn't. I would have thought if the AFL was fitted then the rear harness would be the top one but it seems not. There is one listed for AFL but without tpms which could be on mine

Don't get too hung up on the harnesses, TIS shows pinouts for the modules in the car, so you can tap into the relevant can network from somewhere nearby (lets face it it's all over the car!) and then all you'll need is a power feed. But you first eh mate?
