    Default possible head gasket?

    on a friday night and a bank holiday what else can go wrong.
    I have more oil in my expansion tank than water. my clutch pedal gone to the floor. I thinking head gasket put stumped why clutch pedal gone as well.

    it may well not be the headgasket... there's an oil to water heat exhcahnger on the front of the engine...they fail and dump engine oil into the coolant....

    clutch pedal could just be a coincidence, but it may be either the master or slave cylinders...clamp the flxible hose and see if the pedal gives afirm pressure or not, that will tell you if it's the master or slave..

    will try today many thanks.can not believe people are up at 6.50am.

    that would probaly explain why she not overheating.

    at 6.50am i'd already been up for an hour and a half.... d4mn puppy...

    yep, if it's just oil in the coolant but no overheating i'd bee looking at the heat exchanger..... you can get them pressure tested if you take it off.. not too big a job on the dti's...

    remove the top plastic cover.. look down the front of the engine...it's down by the inlet...alloy 'radiator' style thing with lines from it..

    how much oil is in the coolant?...if it's not pumping it in in gallons, then you could limp it round..
