Default F.A.O Any1 thinkin about changing springs

Right I`m going to share my limited knowledge of uprated suspension.A while back i had my SRi springs swapped for 888 Eibachs because of the generally crap handling of the car aswell as advice from peeps on here.I decided to leave the SRi shocks as they were already "uprated".The result was generally tighter handling through the long sweeping bends and more feel to the steering but after a couple of weeks with it i still was n`t completely happy. It was still a bit boaty and still did n`t quite feel like the front wheels were connected to the steering wheel in any way.So after a bit of overtime at work and the opinions of peeps i decided to give the Bilstein B4 s a try. After getting a set for the reasonable sum of £140 i decided to have a go at fitting them myself.I started with the rears and after taking one of the old ones off and compressing it then having a go at a Bilsteins i thought 5h1t i`ve dropped a b0110k ,they felt the same ...but i`d bought them so they were goin on.That was Weds and today although i`d tested it and thought it was better today i had a chance to give it a proper test.I had to go to Manchester so i thought i`ll go over The Snake Pass , i know i`m going on so here`s the conclusion.......If anyone is thiking of lowering you car and leaving the standard/SRi shocks on......DO N`T
The difference through the twistys blew me away ,as i said before in a different thread they seemed to make way more difference than the springs alone did.So if your thinking of lowering find the extra cash and defo get the dampers aswell.

    Hope this is of usev

I am just in the process of having Eibach springs fitted. I cannot afford the Bilsteins at the moment but they are on the list - next, hopefully. (Well, after a cambelt service. )

Can't wait to feel the difference!

    How much were your springs?

Oh by the way I just bought rear Bilstein B4's for £30.75 ea + vat from Euro Car Parts.

I initially put the eibach springs onto my SRi shocks, as decribed above there were some improvements, but when one of my rear shocks blew I took the opportunity to put in eibach shocks as well.

    Definitely worthwhile doing the lot
