Chris suggested I keep it quiet and surprise people at a rolling road day but I can't. I've tested NOS on the beast using a very crude but effective method. I stuck it on the rolling road, ran a pipe from the bottle into the intake ducting and then manually opened and closed the regulator during the run.
Results were good, no smoke when running on the NOS, even though I had a tuning box on as well as the remap to give it extra fuel. 230bhp is what I have achieved with this method before on many occasions but with the NOS as well!!
do you want to know what I got yet? Okay, the clutch slipped on the highest torque run but still managed to hold up to 380lbft and no less than 253.6bhp. Like I said, this was completely smoke free, which pleased the guys at Red Dot because they didn't have to clean the wall when I left
I'll be looking to make my kit up to produce around 210bhp as I don't want to strain the clutch too much with the torque. I have no worries about over heating though, the engine didn't run any hotter than usual and I've no problems since. I have one large bottle already and should be picking up a second in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for more!
One last thing, although I don't know what peek torque is would have made if it hadn't slipped; the peak power on the highest run of 253.6bhp was at 3600rpm at 370lbft and 214.3bhp at the road wheel. That was less than 15.5% transmission losses so I'm quite happy with that.
